The Quality & Risk Management (QRM) team at Grant Thornton UAE provides internal firm support services to all offices in the UAE in many specialist areas as follows:
Audit methodology and accounting technical support
Quality and risk management
Client acceptance and continuance
Legal and data protection
The QRM team provide strategic, innovative, creative and most importantly quality services and solutions to enable our people every day to give the best external client service. The QRM team promotes and monitors compliance with applicable auditing and accounting standards, external laws and regulations as well as internal policies and procedures to help manage Grant Thorntons regulatory, litigation and reputational risk.
Opportunity:
Due to continued growth, the QRM team is now recruiting for an Audit Risk & Quality team member. The team member will play a critical role in ensuring that Grant Thornton UAE maintains independence and complies with international and local regulations on ethics and independence. The role will support the QRM and Audit teams of different line of businesses.
Roles and responsibilities include:
Address practice inquiries on conflict of interest and independence matters as it relates to assurance services
Facilitate the understanding of and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standard
Facilitate, implement and monitor compliance with the Grant Thornton network and local policies and procedures to manage risk, enhance quality control and comply with law, regulation and professional standards
Prepare required reports for assurance leadership, Grant Thornton network and regulators as necessary
Perform root cause analysis to identify and address audit quality issues
Management of various independence systems
Handling complex ethics and independence consultations
Developing and updating communications and guidance on ethics and independence matters
Assistance with the organisation, development of content and the delivery of ethics and independence training
Managing the confirmation of independence process for new joiners and existing staff
Facilitate and monitor implementation of remedial actions to prevent quality findings from recurring and help identify good practices as part of continuous improvement
Work on one-off and recurring projects as and when required
Required skills and attributes include:
Must be a qualified chartered accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent)
Knowledge of global independence standards
Preferably an audit/assurance background with knowledge of financial services audits and quality and risk management within audit firms in particular conflict resolution and independence experience
Excellent project management skills
Must be highly motivated with an ability to take ownership for themselves and eager to learn;
Excellent attention to detail;
Strong communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills; and
Excellent team player
