As The Transportation Assistant, Your Key Responsibilities Include
Assisting with planning and managing the transportation network to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of goods
Securing transport equipment appropriate for the goods being shipped and monitoring the condition to ensure the safety of goods and compliance with all applicable regulations
Managing the daily transportation operations including tracking of shipments, determining the most cost-effective routes, loading, unloading, and scheduling of shipments
Improving the efficiency of the transportation network, including route optimization and alternate transportation methods
Researching and negotiating shipping rates with carriers
Working closely with other departments to ensure timely and accurate documentation for shipments
Troubleshooting any logistical issues such as delays and damages
Maintaining up-to-date records of transportation activities
The Ideal Candidate Must Possess
Excellent organizational and time management skills as well as strong problem-solving abilities
A thorough understanding of all applicable regional, state, and federal regulations related to the transport of goods
Proficiency with software, including freight management programs, databases, and electronic communication tools
Proficiency in spoken and written English
A current Class B/C Commercial Drivers License and valid medical card (preferred, but not required)
