Julphar is an Emirati pharmaceutical company in the Middle East. Headquartered in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, the company employs more than 5,000 people and markets its pharmaceuticals internationally. The company has three divisions – General Medicines, Julphar Diabetes Solutions and Julphar Life – and products are used in gastrology, pain management, respiratory, wound and scar, gastrointestinal, gynecology, men’s health, anemia, anti-infectives, neurology, dermatology, cardiology , nutritional supplements and vitamins. In 2018, the company was the first pharmaceutical manufacturer in the United Arab Emirates.
The company received Ministry of Health approval for its first 30 products four years later and began producing liquids and semi-solids in 1988. In 1990, distribution agents were established in key markets around the world and construction of new production facilities began in Ras Al Khaimah. Julphar II, III and IV were commissioned in 1998, Julphar VII biotechnology plant was commissioned in 2003 and Julphar VIII, IX and X were commissioned in 2007. A total of 13 factories produce tablets, capsules, pediatric powder suspensions (PPS), syrups, suspensions, vials, drops, ampoules, ointments, creams and suppositories. Julphar Saudi Arabia was launched in 2017 and is a joint venture between Julphar and its local partner Cigalah Group. The facility was the first in King Abdullah Economic City to be awarded a full cGMP certificate by the Saudi Food and Drug Administration in its first inspection.
