About Company

It was born in 1821 in Anchay, a small village in the Jura region of France. He was the son of a farmer, and at the age of 13 he decided to leave home and travel to Paris in search of a better life. He worked as a layetier, a craftsman who made and sold flat, oblong trunks, and eventually became an apprentice to a prominent layetier named Monsieur Marechal.

In 1854, Company opened his own layetier workshop in Paris. He quickly gained a reputation for making high-quality trunks, and his business grew rapidly. In 1858, he introduced the “flat trunk,” which could be stacked on top of other trunks, making it more convenient for travelers. This design was revolutionary, and it helped to establish Louis Vuitton as a leader in the trunk-making industry.

In 1892, Louis Vuitton’s son, Georges Vuitton, introduced the iconic Monogram Canvas, which featured the interlocking LV initials. The monogram was inspired by the trend of using a personal monogram on one’s belongings, such as on a piece of luggage or stationary. This monogram quickly became synonymous with the Louis Vuitton brand and is still being used today, making it one of the most recognizable and iconic logos in the world.

Louis Vuitton’s success continued to grow throughout the 20th century, and by the 1980s, the brand had become a symbol of luxury and exclusivity. In 1987, the Louis Vuitton brand was acquired by the luxury conglomerate Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH), which helped to further expand the brand’s reach and influence.
