About Dubai Metro
Dubai Metro is a high-speed rail network in the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. It is currently maintained by the French company Keolis. The Red Line and Green Line are in operation, and the Red Line, known as Route 2020 to the Expo 2020 site, is a major 15 km extension of the Expo 2020 site, announced in April 2015 and opened in 2021. Those first two lines runs underground in the city in the middle and in high channels elsewhere. All trains are fully automated and driverless, with air-conditioned platform edge doors along with the stations. Architectural firm Aedas designed the metro’s 45 stations, two depots and operational control centres. Al Ghurair Investment Group was the builder of the subway.
Until 2016, the Dubai Metro was the world’s longest driverless subway network, with a route length of 75 kilometres (47 mi), as recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2012. The Vancouver Skytrain surpassed the system in 2016 as the longest fully automated system. in the world, but won the title in 2021 with the opening of Route 2020. However, the total length of that route later surpassed Singapore’s MRT automated lines. However, at 52.1 kilometres (32.mi), the Red Line still remains the world’s longest driverless single subway line.
