P. M. Møller (1836-1927), a deeply religious Christian, fixed a blue flag with a white seven-pointed star on either side of the black chimney of the steamer Laura while recovering from his illness in a letter to wife P. M.

Møller explained in October of the year 1886: “The little star in the barrel is a memory of the night when I prayed for you and asked for a sign: if the star appeared in a gray and cloudy sky, it would mean that the Lord answers prayers.” The same star later became the logo of the Maersk Group.
